CAN YOU TELL ME?
This pertains to CHIP's classroom sessions. To register for online counseling, please see the page entitled "Online Counseling".
Q:
How long do the classes last?
A:
CHIP classes consist of 8 hours of classroom instruction, plus additional time for an intake meeting and an exit interview after the final class. Additional time can be scheduled for individual review sessions.
Q:
Where are the CHIP classes offered?
A:
CHIP classes are offered at several sites throughout the Upper Ohio Valley. See the "Class Schedule" page.
Q:
Do I have to pre-register for a CHIP class?
A:
Yes. In order to take a CHIP class, you must fill out a registration form and schedule an intake meeting. See the "Classroom Sessions" page.
Q:
Does CHIP provide down payment or mortgage assistance for the purchase of a home?
A:
No. CHIP does not have funds for homebuyer assistance. But the CHIP education program does satisfy the education requirement of many first-time homebuyer financing programs offered by private lenders and government programs.
Q:
Can I take a CHIP class if I am not sure if I want to buy a home, or if I know I will not be able to buy a home for a long time?
A:
Yes. CHIP classes will help you decide whether or not home ownership is right for you to pursue. If you decide that you want to become a home owner, CHIP will help you develop a short-term or long-term home ownership goal.
Q:
Do I get a certificate when I complete the CHIP class?
A:
Yes. Each CHIP graduate receives a certificate that can be used as documentation when applying for a homebuyer assistance program.
